(Tea Party 247) – Poor leadership.
A Marxist city council.
Continued attacks on police officers from a small group of radicals who are never held accountable.
This is the common theme of exit interviews from Seattle police officers, who are leaving the department in record numbers following a year of civil unrest and city-sanctioned animosity towards police officers.
The Post Millennial recently obtained over 175 pages of exit interviews conducted during the exodus of 118 officers who left in 2020 amid riots and protests that so often target members of SPD.
In September alone, a stunning 39 officers left the force.
They note that similar comments can be seen throughout the interviews from different officers explaining why they are leaving.
Many express frustrations with the city council, who has joined in the nationwide trend of approaching perceived racist policies in policing by calling to defund the police, as officers are strained and overburdened with the difficult task of keeping the public peace amid anti-police protests.
Here are some of the most striking comments they report on:
“I refuse to work for this socialist city council and their political agenda. This agenda sacrifices the health and well-being of the officers and ultimately will destroy the fabric of this once fine city.”
“Current hostile work environment. In a precinct that is under civil unrest by a small group that is constantly committing multiple felonies and attempting to murder peace officers.”
“An unwinnable battle with the City Council. It will be the downfall of the city of Seattle.”
“You could pay me twice what you’re paying me now and I would not work for Seattle under this current political mayhem, Marxist collaborations and lack of government and police leadership.”
The officers also pointed to the calls the defund the department as well as the refusal of the city to put rioters in jail.
Remember, these are the same officers who were expected to stand by while protesters took over a police precinct, vandalized it, and created a so-called “autonomous zone” within several city blocks which they dubbed a “no cop zone.”
Then, these officers were prevented from responding to the CHAZ/CHOP as it was officially called while crime raged.
Then blamed by the protesters for failing to respond!
How would you feel if this was how you were treated after taking an oath to serve and protect and then being made the demon of a political crusade while criminals were allowed to roam free and you got all the blame?
Our police officers deserve better. They deserve leaders who respect their commitment to public safety. Who won’t use them as scapegoats for decades of failed Democrat policy, who compare them to racists and terrorists.
