(Tea Party 247) – Democrats have been tickling the ears of minorities for decades and now that this has been heavily and effectively highlighted this election cycle, minorities are fleeing the left in droves.
While Democrats have pretended to be champions for minorities, in reality minority communities across the country have done really poorly under their leadership. Democrats make empty promises to minorities while running for office and once they win it seems as though they get amnesia and completely forget all about those promises.
Literacy rates among minorities are low, crime rates are high, violence runs neighborhoods, and drug use is rampant. Sounds like Democrats have all but abandoned these communities that they claim to fight for.
One tactic that Democrats use to pretend they’re really fighting to help minorities is the lowering of standards. Just look at Affirmative Action as the most prime example of this. Affirmative Action dictates that candidates for a job must be chosen based on the color of their skin to meet certain quotas. That is an inherently racist approach to “equality.”
Another inherently racist approach is to assume that minority children cannot attain the same level of academic success as their white counterparts and so instead of finding ways to improve the education system, Democrats just vote to lower standards. This is how they “combat racism” and they don’t sugarcoat it.
As if California wasn’t dysfunctional enough, the San Diego Unified School District has just announced they plan to do away with its previous grading standards in their effort to “combat racism.” That’s right, folks, grading students at a higher standard is racist since Democrats think minority children aren’t smart enough to attain better grades.
It’s the same sentiment as expressed by Joe Biden’s comment that “poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.”
The recent decision came after it was discovered that of the D or F grades given to students only 7% go to white students while 23% go to Native Americans, 23% went to Hispanics, and 20% went to black students.
In typical Democratic fashion, rather than actually taking the time to understand why this is occurring and taking action to help the students overcome whatever challenges they are facing, the district has decided just to lower the standards and label the previous grading system as “racist” and “discriminatory.”
Instead of taking the necessary steps to ensure children are actually learning, the district will just overhaul the grading system so it all looks better on paper. Then they wonder why a growing number of Americans no longer have any faith in the public education system.
Summit News reports that the grades will now exclude early tests so that students can fail them and they won’t be counted negatively against their final grade and that grades “will not focus on mastery of the material, not a yearly average.”
Teachers will not be allowed to consider non-material factors like bad behavior or just not submitting assignments when they are due when grading students.
Unfortunately, the only results of this will be to discourage students who perform well and encourage underperforming students to misbehave and become completely disinterested and detached.
NBC News reports that, “The board will also review potential student disparities stemming from its zero-tolerance disciplinary policy on cheating in the coming weeks.” So, now some cheating may be permitted? Again, the only changes to come from such a decision are going to be negative and will only serve to further hurt already struggling students.
In a desperate attempt to justify the racist moves and virtue-signal, SDUSD Vice President Richard Barrera said, “This is part of our honest reckoning as a school district, if we’re actually going to be an anti-racist school district, we have to confront practices like this that have gone on for years and years.”
The only thing the school district is going to accomplish with these nonsensical ideas rooted in a complete misunderstanding of racism is hurt minority students who are struggling and need real academic help and support.
Not only is the heavily liberal-run district going to be hurting the students during their school years but these policy changes are going to leave Hispanics, blacks, and Native Americans lacking the adequate mental abilities, work ethic, and skill sets needed to become a properly functioning, contributing member of society. They will be entering the jobs market severely disadvantaged.
As Dave Blount writes, “This epitomizes the liberal strategy for eliminating the racial disparities they endlessly obsess on: bring everyone down to a lowest common denominator. This debases education, as moonbattery debases everything it touches.”
“Allowing progressives to take over the schools was a catastrophic error,” Blount concludes. Now America is reaping the consequences.
