(Tea Party 247) – One of the hot button topics of our day and age is the usage of gender-altering medications for children who identify themselves as being transgender. Mind you, many of these kids are so young they can’t vote, operate a vehicle, work a fulltime job, ect., which raises the question, if they aren’t old enough to do these things, what makes them old enough to decide their own gender.
After all, such a decision is completely life-altering and could end up having irreversible consequences.
The regional council of Friuli Venezia Giulia in Italy has recognized the various dangerous of using such drugs on children and has approved a motion that will ban the use of hormone-blocking prescription drugs for gender-confused children.
Voice of Europe has the details:
The council’s motion clearly states that “puberty is not a disease” and therefore shouldn’t be prevented with medications or surgery that can produce irreversible effects. The motion also mentions the long-term negative effects of drugs containing the hormone-altering chemical triptorelin.
The motion reads, “There is no evidence, in fact of the effective full restoration of fertility in the case of withdrawal from treatment,” and cites data from the American College of Pediatricians which states that as many as 98% of minors outgrow their gender dysphoria or the feeling that one’s biological sex doesn’t match up with one’s gender expression).
Council member Mauro Bordin of the national populist League party told reporters from VoceControCorrente, “We express opposition to the use of this drug,” while adding that there hasn’t been enough clinical studies, “especially regarding the possible long-term negative effects and why blocking puberty pharmacologically could cause a misalignment in [adolescent]physical and cognitive development.”
Bordin argued that the motion is not an “ideological position but a proposal of common sense in the exclusive interest of the health of children throughout Italy.”
Medical scientists and physicians from around the world have also warned against medical interventions of individuals experiencing gender dysphoria.
In 2017, Dr. Michelle Cretella of the American College of Pediatricians stated, “Transgenderism is a psychological disorder, not a biological one,” adding “Consequently, we expect transgenderism and its associated medical procedures to increase as society increasingly promotes this lifestyle.
One has to wonder, if doctors, psychiatrists, and many others who are experts in their fields are telling parents the use of these drugs is a horrible idea, why do so many others insist on letting their child do it, knowing full well they are too young to make such a sure, life-altering decision?
A lot of it has to do with the progressive agenda of normalizing deviant behavior. The left desperately wants the state to play the role of parent and raise a generation of children who are loyal to the government by essentially supporting any sort of behavior they want to engage in, so long as it isn’t thinking for oneself.
It’s sad that children have become pawns in the political games being played by a sick and twisted minority of individuals who want to see the established order of things burned to the ground. Here’s to hoping the action taken by Italy starts happening in other places around the world.
