(Tea Party 247) – On Monday, Fox News higher-ups announced that several members of the cable news outlet’s staff have tested positive for the coronavirus, including several prominent anchors who are now in quarantine along with some of the network’s executives.
Those who tested positive were all aboard a private flight back to New York from the presidential debate in Nashville where they had been to cover the event.
Top names include Fox News Media President Jay Wallace, chief political anchor Bret Baier, The Story anchor Martha MacCallum, and Dana Perino, who hosts The Briefing with Dana Perino and Juan Williams, co-host of The Five along with Perino.
“We wanted to inform you about recent developments of a few positive COVID-19 cases at FOX News Media,” Wallace and Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott wrote in an internal memo to the network’s staff.
“This is a reminder that any employee who has tested positive will be quarantining and following all of our mandatory guidelines before they enter any of our buildings.”
The anchors need to produce three subsequent negative tests before they can be released from quarantine, The Washington Post reported on Monday.
Fox News is the only major cable news network that doesn’t lean decidedly far-left and we are just eight days away from the most important general election of our lifetime, perhaps even our nation’s history.
This is a huge blow to the one outlet we could rely on to give fair and honest coverage of what is almost guaranteed to be a contentious election, and now some of its top anchors are quarantined.
The network has been operating with a skeleton staff and with many anchors and personalities working from home since the beginning of the pandemic, but these are by far the most high-profile positive tests so far.
First, the network’s resident Never Trumper, Chris Wallace, did a terrible job moderating the first presidential debate (he even told those anchors now in quarantine he was jealous of the moderator to the second debate, who was faced with far more metered candidates).
Now, the two anchors who epitomize the network’s slogan of fair and balanced—Baier and MacCallum, who can each always be relied upon to shoot straight and remain largely nonpartisan—are stuck in quarantine!
We need, more than ever, a major news outlet who is on the president’s side.
Could this negatively impact the election? What do you think?
