(Tea Party 247) – Tens of thousands of citizens of the city of Paris took to the streets last night in an attempt to flee the city ahead of the national lockdown issued by French President Emannuel Macron, causing massive traffic jams and other forms of chaos all over the city.
Video clips posted on social media show extremely large numbers of Parisians participating in a mass exodus to get the heck out of the city before midnight, when the lockdown was scheduled to start.
All through the night, car horns could be heard going off all over the city as folks tried to get out. People on social media claimed that there were “hundreds of miles” of gridlock blocking people from escaping to second homes they have in the country.
According to a report by Jack Wright from the Daily Mail, many individuals also took advantage of the evening to go and hang out with friends and family at bars and restaurants, which would soon be closed thanks to the new government shutdown.
“Meanwhile French people emptied supermarkets in a repeat of the panic-buying that swept Europe in March as Parisians and other city dwellers prepared for a month in confinement. Shoppers stocked up on pasta and toilet roll while people queued outside hairdressers for a final trim. Office workers in the capital’s business district hauled their equipment to cars and trains in preparation for WFH. Emmanuel Macron’s draconian measures are due to be enforced until at least December 1, with people required to carry documents justifying their reason for leaving home that will be subject to police checks,” wrote Wright in his report.
The health minister for France stated that up to a million individuals in the country could have the coronavirus, as Prime Minister Jean Castex went ahead and extended the mask mandate for children attending school.
Apparently, French schools are to stay open, but stay-at-home requirements for adults are back in place as they were at the start of the spring this year. Macron has put a curfew in place in Paris.
In an announcement made on TV, Macron stated: ‘Our target is simple: sharply reducing infections from 40,000 a day to 5,000 and slowing the pace of admissions to hospital and intensive care.’
“Hospitals are already scrambling for intensive care beds and ‘no matter what we do, nearly 9,000 people will be in intensive care by mid-November,” the president said. Macron referred to the measures as “heartbreaking” but went on to say that he couldn’t stand by and watch thousands of citizens die.
According to the report, the French government has recorded 47,637 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in a 24 hour period.
So, as you can see, there’s lots and lots of fear mongering concerning the coronavirus being pushed by leaders all over the world. It’s tragic to see so many authoritarian responses to this illness rather than calm solutions that won’t cause damage to the global economy.
Pray for the people of France.
