(Tea Party 247) – On Sunday, the New York Post reported that a member of the Capitol Hill police force had died in a suspected suicide on Friday.
This comes after the explosive events of Wednesday, January 6th when pro-Trump protesters and others dressed in pro-Trump gear broke into the Capitol Building and caused a lockdown with lawmakers sheltering in place.
Video from the events of that day have revealed Capitol Hill police officers opening barricades to let protesters flood in towards the entrance of the building.
Considering this is the swamp we’re talking about and there appear to be a number of key marks of a coordinated event on Wednesday, it is certainly worthy of note that a member of the Capitol Police just took his own life.
Officer Howard Liebengood (pictured at top), 51, was assigned to the Senate Division and was a 16 year veteran of the department.
He died in an off-duty incident, according to Capitol Police.
The details of his death were not released, although Punchbowl News reporter Jake Sherman said he took his own life, according to “several sources.”
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and colleagues,” the department said in a statement Sunday.
“We ask that his family, and other USCP officers’ and their families’ privacy be respected during this profoundly difficult time.”
